Obama: A Diatribe on Hypocrisy and Political Expediency
I've been giving Obama a break recently out of respect for friends who are big fans. But, now I feel compelled to point out a few flaws with the golden boy, seeing as how the MSM has decided he's now clinched the nomination.

First, the hypocrisy over his church. You remember the story, right? Obama's pastor of 20-some odd years somehow managed to keep his America-hating, whitey-hating, conspiracy-theorizing from coming to Obama's attention. When the MSM and blogs shined a light on the racism and America-hatred, bigotry, and vileness, Obama had his "great speech on race" and explained that he could no more disavow Wright and that church than he could deny his white grandma or the entire black community. I had plenty to say at the time. Obama claimed that he'd never heard these sorts of comments from Wright and that they had been taken out of context. (Because, apparently, there is some sort of context where claiming that the US government created AIDS and Crack to keep the black man down is reasonable.)

But then, Rev. Wright came out and reiterated his ugly notions in front of the press. Out the window went the "context" argument. Out the window went the dodge that Obama couldn't have been aware of these views long held by Wright. So, Obama threw Wright "under the bus" and off of the board of advisors to his campaign.

But then, Obama got in trouble with another pastor, this time a Michael Pfleger, guest speaker at Obama's church who said some nasty things about Hillary Clinton.

Once this story got some traction, Obama came out and quit his church. So, we are expected to believe that this radicalism and hatred spewing from the pulpit is a new development. Again, if you believe that, I've got some beach front property in Kansas for sale.

What bothers me about this is the political opportunism. Obama hung out at Trinity United because it gave him cred. That's how he was able to succeed in Chicago poliltics (amid other factors like coughRezkocough). Now that he needs to appeal to white suburban housewives, the Oprah demographic so to speak, he needs to distance himself from this sort of racism and hatred. You can't be all about "hope" and "change" if all the people around you are still clinging to conspiracy theorys and racial hatred. Obama only now distances himself because to not do so is political suicide. Some may buy it, but I, for one, do not. I could not sit in a pew and listen to this hatred for 20 minutes, let alone 20 years. And, I have no illusions that this kind of crap is a new development.

But Obama's church issues are merely a distraction from the bigger issues.

Like the fact that he jumped to conclusions (along with Jack Murtha) about the Haditha case, effectively branding US Marines as "cold blooded murderers" before the investigation was done and before a jury had heard evidence. Obama will sit down and hear a homicidal maniac like Ahmadinejad out, but a US Marine doesn't get the same treatment? Fuck. That. Shit. That's unAmerican, that's what that is. A US Marine, in combat, deserves the benefit of the doubt from a public servant, at least until the investigation is done. They at least deserve kinder words than a man who professes to wish to wipe a country and its people off of the map.

And now, just today, we learn that Tony Rezko, Obama's bud, has been found guilty on 16 federal counts involving political corruption. Is this the kind of "hope" and "change" we can expect from an Obama administration?

"Today's verdict and Obama's friendship with Rezko raises serious questions about whether he has the judgment to serve as president," Robert M. "Mike" Duncan, chairman of the Republican National Committee, said in a statement.

You can say that again, Mr. Duncan.

But, Obama the golden boy must avoid the taint, so he shines the light on the corruption, claiming to be the solution! That takes brass balls the size of...Rhode Island!

Rezko has known Obama since he entered politics, raised money for his Illinois campaigns and was involved in a 2005 real estate deal with him. Obama has donated $150,000 in Rezko-related contributions to charity.

He issued a statement saying he was "saddened" by the verdict. "But now he has been convicted by a jury on multiple charges that once again shine a spotlight on the need for reform." Obama said.

Oops, now Rezko's under the bus too! It is getting awful crowded under there. Obama's going to have to move up to a B-52 bomber instead of just a bus.

But it is Obama's naivete when it comes to rogue nations that bothers me most.

In the CNN/YouTube debate, Obama said he would meet and talk with the leaders of rogue nations like North Korea, Syria, and Iran "without precondition".

Iran has made it clear that they want Israel annihilated, are working on nukes, but denying it. Oh, they also deny the Holocaust. Real open-minded and accepting of facts, that Ahmadinejad. And yet, Obama would shake the man's hand, sit down and have a chat. Except, now he's changed his mind. In speaking to a Pro-Israel group, suddenly his position on those unconditional meetings have shifted. Now, he insists there would be all these conditions:

"I would be willing to lead tough and principled diplomacy with the appropriate Iranian leaders at a time and place of my choosing if and only if it can advance the interest of the United States."
That's quite a bit different from the "without precondition" that he was selling before. Now, call me a cynic if you want, but it occurs to me that there are a lot of pro-Israel Jewish Americans in key states like...New York and Florida. Isn't it interesting that Obama is now choosing to sound a bit more hard-line when it comes to Meglomaniacal Homicidal maniacs? Okay. I'm not all that surprised. What does surprise me is the vacuum of outrage over these shifting positions. Obama is more of a flip-flopper than John Kerry was! For crying out loud.

Then, there is this other flip-flop.

Obama voted against labeling the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization.

Of course, that's not the full extent of the IRGC's malign influence. The group is an acknowledged supporter of terror (a fact even Senator Obama concedes), training, financing and arming Hezbollah, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and most recently, the Taliban. At home in Iran, the IRGC now dominates the regime, with 9 out of 21 seats in the Ahmadinejad cabinet held by former IRGC and IRGC-affiliated officials. The IRGC is also a vital player in Iran's licit and illicit economies, and dominates important sectors like construction.

Needless to say, the Kyl-Lieberman amendment won broad support in the Senate, passing 76-22. Senator Hillary Clinton voted for it, as did Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senator Chuck Schumer, and Senator Dick Durbin.

Senator Obama, however, was one of a handful of senators who opposed the amendment

Full article here.

But now, again, he has changed his mind. Once again, speaking before a pro-Israel group, he decides that maybe they are terrorists after all. Gotta woo those Jewish voters in Florida, ya know. Maybe they'll be dumb enough to buy the crap he's shoveling. Lots of people seem to eat it up, anyway.

The would-be emperor changes his clothes more often than Reba does at a concert! "Fuck Oh Dear", as my daddy would say. Of one thing I am certain: McCain has plenty of opportunity in all of this. All he need do is start telling the truth about Obama and his "tell them what they want to hear" positions.
